For anyone taking a photograph, it is important to firstly understand the reasons behind the image capture. Whether to preserve memories of your first born’s birthday or capturing a photo of Sultan Mosque to preserve its architectural beauty, understanding the reasons in taking that photograph has a direct impact on the factors to look out for. The speaker will share the key ingredients that make a good photo taken, as well as providing participants with an understanding of these factors for memory and archiving purposes:

Photographs represent a myriad of things to different people. This is where Stanley will be discussing issues in keeping the balance between creative expression and the real things we see:

b) Impact of Photography – impact of photography for documenting our heritage as a historical record for the future
Photographs are an important tool in helping to preserve information and memories for the future. It is also an important legal tool that can be used in the court of law (e.g. evidence of damage on accident vehicles). Documenting pictures for future archives or reference has a big impact on many levels. The speaker will emphasize on the impact of documenting heritage as a historical record for the future.

Kids will learn how to use the point-and-shoot camera while exploring ways of capturing life and surroundings, complete with composition techniques. From people to still life and buildings, every subject can be captured creatively, in a guided session with the instructor Participants will bring home their own scrapbook masterpiece in the activity-based workshop.

Photography for Teens [FULLY BOOKED!]

The session will begin by covering basic concepts in photography, following which students will explore different ways of creating interesting images through composition tips and an instructor-led shoot, at the same time finding stories and unique visual moments in the Kg Gelam area.

Create Your Own Photo Collage!
Saturday, 19 June 2010 | 2.30pm – 4.30pm

Participants will learn to create their own photo collages, applying simple screen printing methods. Using photocopied images of the exhibition photos, they can combine and layer these images to form their own unique works of art. At the end of the workshop, each participant will go home with their very own print.
Each workshop participant will receive a Certificate-of-Attendance
at the end of the workshop.
About Objectifs
Objectifs is a visual arts centre for all photography and filmmaking enthusiasts. Established in March 2003, the centre offers quality instruction in photography and filmmaking whilst engaging participants at different skill levels. Apart from regular course offerings, Objectifs works closely with many secondary schools, junior colleges and tertiary institutions and have brought its programmes to almost 15,600 students.
Some of their recent projects include:
Dance/Film (June 2010): Objectifs is curating and managing the film programme for the Singapore Arts Festival.
Singapore Short Film Awards (Jan 2010): Inaugural short film awards, co-organised with TheSubstation.
Panasonic Digital Film Fiesta (Jan 2010): Targeted at emerging and professional filmmakers, Objectifs has organised the DFF for 3 years. The event was co-branded with the Media Development Authority (MDA) for the first 2 years.
Fly By Night Video Challenge (Annually in Nov): Objectifs has co-organised this event for 5 years and work with different external art spaces each year, including the National Museum (known as the National History Museum in 2004), Theatreworks and LASALLE College of the Arts, to nurture the budding film community.
Month of Photography Asia (June 2008/9): Curated and managed Singapore section of MOPAsia. The show has featured high profile international photographers like Steve McCurry and Henri-Cartier Bresson.
Taste as Good as it Looks (August 2009): Delivered a workshop on food photography as part of the National Museum of Singapore’s Life and Living Series.
