LOMOGRAPHY loves Kampong Gelam
By Philipp Aldrup, Nurul Huda and Lawrence Chiam
Friday, 23 April 2010 | 7pm – 8.30pm & Saturday, 24 April 2010 | 10am – 10pm
Istana Hall
Free Admission

Be fascinated with the works of photographers Philip Aldrup, Nurul Huda and Lawrence Chiam as they take you on a journey of Kampong Gelam through their lomography lenses. Armed with a film-loaded LOMO camera, they explore the historical precinct and capture scenes depicting the theme of Malay Heritage, all uniquely presented in the exhibition.

Phillip Aldrup is a graphic designer working in Singapore since 2005. With his current love for shooting on black and white film, Philip’s love for photography started 2 years ago, using the camera as a tool to explore the island’s more hidden places, outlying districts and well-known sights in a different light, with a focus on documentary and cityscapes.

Nurul Huda has greatly influenced the conceptual and contextual makings of the photos concocted by a photographer. She illuminates aspects of the luminal, intangible, and the unvoiced as mouths and methods of telling stories about the everyday. Each piece of her work is a biographical account of something or someone where the power of the unvoiced lies in its visual presence.

Lawrence Chiam is a 36 years old Graphic Designer and life changed for him when he first got his lomo 4-shot camera (Action Sampler) in August 2008. He started to learn to appreciate things around him, seeing them from different levels.
